The story
Built around finishing work properly, not turning it over quickly
Corey started a carpentry apprenticeship straight out of school and then worked on site for a construction company. That is where the standard came from: on a busy site, the carpentry is the last trade in, and everything that has gone wrong earlier ends up being hidden, or exposed, by the finish. He has worked for a couple of companies over the years and still occasionally subcontracts to one of them.
CZ Bespoke Carpentry was set up to concentrate on that end of the job. Not extensions and shells, but the wardrobes, media walls, panelling, staircases, doors and fitted storage people actually live with and look at every day.
Who we help. Homeowners across Wallingford and South Oxfordshire who want fitted furniture made for their room rather than bought off a shelf and packed out with fillers. A lot of that work is in older village property where nothing is square, and in newer housing where the standard-issue storage never quite fits.
What we specialise in. Fitted bedrooms and furniture are the core of the business, alongside media units, home offices and second fix carpentry. We also fit supplied kitchens, build garden rooms as a turnkey job and take on hand-cut and GRP flat roofing.
Experience depth. Ten years in carpentry, an NVQ Level 2 in carpentry and joinery, CAD design used on bespoke work and in-house spray finishing. £2 million of public liability insurance sits behind every job.
Service area. The workshop is at Ipsden, a few minutes from Wallingford, which keeps most of South Oxfordshire inside a short drive for site visits, template checks and snagging.

Mission & standards
The aim: work that still gets noticed years after it was fitted
The business is meant to grow off the back of the work itself, rooms people show visitors, not jobs that quietly need putting right. That only happens if the standard is set before the job starts, so these are the rules every project runs to.
Drawn before it is built
Every bespoke piece is drawn in CAD and approved by you before a single board is cut. You see the layout, the door split, the handle position and the internal configuration while it is still cheap to change.
Made and sprayed in-house
Carcasses and doors are built in the workshop at Blackbarn Farm and spray finished in-house, rather than brush painted on site. That is why the finish still looks right when you stand a foot away from it.
Scribed to the house you actually have
Older Oxfordshire houses are rarely square or plumb. Fitted work is scribed to the walls, floors and ceilings in front of it, so there are no tapering shadow gaps behind a filler strip.
One price, agreed up front
Quotes are fixed price and written down, so the figure you approve is the figure you pay unless you ask for extra work. Payment is by bank transfer.
One carpenter, start to finish
The business is primarily Corey, with subcontractors and a trusted network of trades brought in only where a job needs them. The person who measured your room is the person fitting it.
Honest about what we don't offer
There is no formal written warranty scheme and no trade body membership behind the business at this stage. What stands behind the work is the insurance, the qualification and a Google review profile you can read yourself.
Proof, not promises
What you can actually check
- NVQ Level 2 in Carpentry & Joinery: a recognised trade qualification, not a self-awarded badge.
- £2 million public liability insurance covering work carried out in your home.
- CAD design and in-house spray finishing on bespoke furniture.
- Written fixed-price quotes back within 72 hours of the site visit.
- Around a six-week lead time on bespoke work, told to you before you commit.
- Public Google reviews from Oxfordshire homeowners you can read in full.
We do not currently offer a formal written guarantee scheme and we are not a member of a trade body; we would rather say that plainly than imply cover that does not exist. Read the reviews and see our work before you decide.
