Legal
The basis on which we quote for and carry out work.
This website is operated by CZ Bespoke Carpentry (company number 16980799), Blackbarn Farm, Ipsden, Wallingford OX10 6AE. Contact: 07377 204111 or czbespokecarpentry@gmail.com.
Site visits and quotations are free of charge and carry no obligation. Quotes are issued in writing, normally within 72 hours of the site visit, and are fixed price for the scope of work described in them. A quote remains open for 30 days unless we state otherwise.
A fixed price covers the work set out in the quotation only. Additional work, changes to the design after drawings are approved, or conditions that could not reasonably be seen at the site visit, for example concealed defects behind existing finishes, will be priced and agreed with you before we proceed.
Bespoke furniture is drawn in CAD and issued to you for approval. Manufacture does not begin until you confirm the drawings. Once drawings are approved and materials are ordered, changes may affect both price and lead time.
Bespoke work typically has a lead time of around six weeks from approval of drawings, though this varies with workload and material availability. Dates given are estimates made in good faith; we will keep you informed if a date needs to move. We are not liable for delays caused by third parties, material supply, adverse weather on external work, or access being unavailable on the agreed dates.
You agree to provide reasonable access to the property, along with power and water where required. Where work involves supplied units, for example kitchen fitting, you are responsible for the units, worktops and appliances being on site, complete and undamaged before the fitting date. We are not responsible for defects in materials or components supplied by you or by others.
Before any fixing into walls, floors or ceilings we take reasonable care to identify concealed cables and pipework, but we cannot accept liability for services that are unmarked and undetectable.
Payment is by bank transfer. Stage payments and deposits, where applicable, will be set out in your quotation and agreed before work begins. Invoices are payable in line with the terms stated on the invoice. Title in any goods supplied remains with us until payment has been received in full.
Any variation to the agreed scope should be confirmed in writing, including any change to price or programme. Where you cancel after materials have been ordered or manufacture has begun, we may charge for materials purchased and work already carried out.
Where a contract is agreed in your home, you may have a statutory right to cancel within 14 days. Where you ask us to begin work within that period, you may be charged for work already carried out if you then cancel.
Work is carried out with reasonable skill and care, in line with ten years' experience in the trade and an NVQ Level 2 qualification in carpentry and joinery. We do not currently operate a formal written warranty or guarantee scheme, and we are not a member of a trade body. If you believe something is not right, tell us as soon as possible and we will inspect it and discuss how to resolve it. Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer.
Timber is a natural material and will move slightly with changes in humidity and temperature. Minor seasonal movement, and normal wear over time, are not defects.
We hold £2 million of public liability insurance. Our liability is limited to the value of the contract except where the law does not allow such a limit; we do not exclude liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraud.
We may photograph completed work for our portfolio and social media. No identifying details of the property or client are published, and we will not use photographs if you ask us not to. CAD drawings and designs produced by us remain our intellectual property.
Content on this website is provided for general information. Images may be representative of the style and standard of our work rather than a specific completed project. Nothing on this website forms a contractual offer; only a written quotation does.
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales and are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of its courts.
